Title: PROTEC-O-PLATE

I just purchased an L30/M20, One of the first in the 67 model year as it does not have a 12" or the radius bar or The muncie- it's a saginaw. the engine and trans numbers arent exact ie. Protec-o eng #V1205ML, engine block#TI1205ML, Protec-o Trans# RYT02, Actual Trans #R7T02 is this normal? Thanks

Only the Posi cars got the traction bar.
Not unusual for an V8 to be ordered with an open rear.

This is not true.  Lots of SS and L30/M20 cars had the traction bar and were not posi.

From what I see in the data, this car was too early for it to have a 12 bolt, much less the traction bar.  ALL L30/M20 cars had the saginaw trans and the R in the trans code says this it is a saginaw.

However a lot of later SS-350 cars with open rears did not get the traction bar.
So was there a system, or did they just do them every which way?

Oops- no i haven't read that. I did now.
my info was only from cars I owned and observed.
Every time I saw a untouched 67 with no rod, they were open rears...
And now that you mention it Yes - they were all L48's with PG's.

I owned a 67 RSSS 350 car, muncie, 12 bolt 3.31 posi, L.A. car from 1981-1994 with no radius rod, car's build date unknown.
I also owned a 67 firebird 326, muncie, 10 bolt 3.55 posi from 1981-1982 and that one had two rectangular radius rods, one on each axle tube. I believe that was also a L.A. car, build date unknown

MT Firebirds received two radius rods...AT cars got the single...and the Firebirds all received rectangular rods...no round ones.  I think all Firebird rear axles gotthe brackets on both sides of the tubes for the rods but only MT cars had the twin plates in the floor cars
