I read that the finish for the bellhousing should be Chevy orange. I've never seen one this way on an original car. Is it supposed to be orange or natural aluminum? I don't mean over spray but solid orange. Thanks.

Should be all orange I believe

I think they just received some overspray, because there were bolted up when the engine was painted. Most people just go ahead and paint the entire bellhousing orange.

Jerry's book said the acceptable finish was Chevy orange and he usually lists if bare is OK too, but he didn't. So I wondered if bare aluminum was ok too. That's all I've ever seen on restored and original cars, but Jerry should know I guess.

Completely bare would not be acceptable...most original pics I have seen have overspray on them.
