Title: New Camaro in Detroit
Post by: wtexz10 on June 23, 2007, 02:00:41 AM
My Neighbor was in Detroit last weekend showing one of Jim Hall's Chapparral race cars from the 60's snapped this photo of the new Camaro convertible.  He says the photos don't do the car justice.

The new Camaro was also the feature car in Transformers ( the movie ).  I saw it last night - AWESOME to say the least.

The Camaro transformer was a good robot.  And for you "hate the Ford crowd" guys, one of the bad robots was transformed
into the new Mustang.  Says it all..........

Go see it - you'll love it.

Hate to disagree.... want to love the car but it is no pony... more of a heffer....Scott Settlemier wants to save 10% on this production he should consider putting it on a diet... maybe a 9/10th scale model.... my op   ;D

Well my 02 is that they missed a great oppurtunity to make the car more retro ie: Challenger and Mustang. Some of the early drawings of a "potential Camaro" that were in some of the major publications were on the money!  looked 10 to 1 better with a more 69 look. Not to sound rude towards the GM guys but I won't be buying one. The gauges look like the dash in my 1952 5 window NAPCO truck. I've got my flame suit on so have at me, I just hope that some of this hype from a potential buyer will enlighten them to make some changes before it goes into production

No flames from me here - I have always maintained that the car should have been much more retro from the very outset, and a bare bones Hi- Po model like a '67-'68 L78-type deal available for those who can't afford (and don't want the 6 disk changer/heated mirrors/powered moon roof/version) but want to beat the snot out of the Cobras that are out there now.
I like the way Ford is back-dooring the kits to hop their cars up as well - but they invented that sort of stuff with the early - to mid 90's Mustangs and that is why in my opinion the Camaro line bit the dust soon after. Maybe history is about to repeat itself over again in only a decade!

The new car just doesn't do it for me and I hate to admit it but the Mustang is the best looking of the bunch so far (no I'm not a Ford fan in the least, just giving credit where due) and IMHO Ford won't get any challenge from the GM stable in this round. The gate has been wide open for a couple of years now but unlike 40 years ago I don't think GM has the goods to make up for the lost time and market with what they are showing here.

I have my asbestos undershorts on now too... so light it up!    Randy

The new Mustang is a head turner for me. Ford did a great job with it but, what are they going to do with it when its due for redesign? I guess its all about what sells RIGHT NOW.
I am a fan of the new Camaro style, though I would prefer a little more retro. I too am hoping for a bare bones performance version and a Rally Sport (hidden headlight) option would do it for me.

I saw the transformer movie today.  The car is starting to grow on me.  I'm still not a fan of the rear but it's easy to see the first gen in the roof.

I can deal with the car itself better than the dash/gauges. I just can't handle the gauges.

I agree...the interior and the guages are flat-out hideous.  WTF were they thinking????  I'll stick with my
02 and 69!

Well, I've been heavily abused becasue I don't like it either.  A like minded individual on another forum said:

"The new Camaro is the best looking Cadillac yet".  That pretty much sums it up for me.

I can agree with a little of what everybody has said so far... like the cool looks, already has some room for improvement, an over weight heffer :D, and most importantly most of the people who would love one can't afford the thing! I'm Chevy all the way but I agree the mustang looks pretty good.
