Would it be better to use black trim adhesive, or yellow as was used originally.

If you are talking about weatherstrip adhesive, use black, that is what the factory used on all of the cars I have restored. I have a 69 here that has the original paint in the jambs and there are not any traces of any adhesive being used on the door weatherstripping, which is a first for me. Also the black is less noticeable if any of it "runs" out from the edges............RatPack..........

My untouched original 02D '69 has no adhesive of any kind on the door weatherstrips, and the adhesive bead used on the trunk opening weatherstrip is black.

John raises an interesting question:  Exactly what are you "gluing"?  Also, If you do, use black --like RatPack said-- because there shouldn't be any excess showing.

My 69Z is a 02D  67  67 with white stripes, I just removed the door weatherstrips, no adhesive.
