Post by: sc4474 on October 19, 2005, 01:03:11 AM
I purchased a feb X55 with hide away and back-up lights.

It was all taken apart but the tail pan looks right.

Thanks Curtis

Post a pic of the backup light hole (click Additional Options).
Something's not right. Either someone did a good job or tags have been swapped....

Hello Kurt,

You were correct someone swapped the tag.
The tag was 02 build date but vin was 012, 12 bolt rear was correct for vin & the back up lights look correct.
What will i do for a tag ? Call repo tage people?

Thanks Curtis

Got a picture of the tag?  Maybe someones already visited the repro tag guys.  How many fuel lines are on the car, one or two?

Mark,

The car has two fuel lines.

I cannot post a pic of the tag because of the pics are 150kb, the lowest setting on camera is 640.
Don't know how to compress smaller.

Thanks Curtis

Tags real.  What's holding it on the car?  Is your car a December built car, or a January built car (previous reply says 012).  Two fuel lines on small block cars were used with L48's and LM1's before 1/1/69 and with L48's after 1/1/69.  Every other small block used a single 3/8" fuel line.  Two fuel lines were also used on L35's and L34's during the whole production production year, but we're talking about a small block here.

How you know it's a small block car?

That tag  I know is wrong because is does not match vin date -557203 12 bolt rear date bm1121g2

I guess it is a small block, all the a/c is gone so I can't tell there.

What about the motor mounts?

Why would someone swap out the tag on an original big block car with an X55 tag?

With the above vin would this car have a X code ?

I don't think 557XXX would have an X code, probably a 12A or early 12B car.  There are some 12B cars that didn't have X codes.
