Post by: sebastien on May 21, 2007, 01:28:55 AM
what is the proper torque and sequence for a small block cast iron intake manifold and original exhaust manifolds?
also,is that correct that there is no gasket betwwen the heads and the exhaust manifolds?

Sebastien:

Let's see if this comes out correctly. Sequence for SBC Intake. I have nothing on the exhaust.

Sorry it will not load, wrong format,

Looking at engine from front

Right Side(Passenger) sequence numbers are  12,11,4,1,5,and 6 for the very back
Left side(Drivers) sequence nmbers are 10,9,3,2,7 and 8 for the very back

30 pounds torque with oil.

Hope this helps

Sebastein -

All this info is in the factory Chassis Service Manual & Chassis Overhaul Manual, which can be purchased at most first generation Camaro part retailers.   :)

Correct - no Chevy V-8 ever used exhaust manifold gaskets, although the aftermarket gasket manufacturers seem compelled to include them with their gasket kits.
