Title: seat belt color
Post by: ccargo on December 15, 2005, 08:21:17 PM
My 09E 68 convertible with standard red interior has black standard seat belts with retractors. I thought they were replacements but the date is right on? Should they not be red to match the interior?

Nope. They are correct.
For whatever reason, the standards were black in a red interior, but deluxe belts would be red. Go figure.....

What are the dates on the belts and how many belts are in the rear? ;)

Same was true in '69 - my Z has the deluxe interior (Z87), but has standard (black) belts; deluxe belts were still a stand-alone option in '69, not tied to any other package.

That's a related issue.
As John states, belt type was not related to interior type.
Pat's question is about color. And deluxe belts often became colored, whereas standards were black. Not true for all interior colors, but true for red and 69 greens.

That color chart is in my seatbelt article, which has progressed. Now I need to HTML it.....

Thanks Kurt, the front belts are Irving model #237 36 A 67 and the build date is 09E on the car. Three belts in the rear.
