Title: 69 Z/28 Exterior Color Question
Post by: Machspeed on May 10, 2007, 03:34:08 AM
Friends, newbie here with simple question. Was Code 67, Burgandy Poly, an option for the 69 Z/28? I have never seen this color on this particular car and just wanted a confirmation.

Thanks,

John

Yes, paint code #67 was available on a 69 Z.  I have witnessed several with this color. :)

Hi John -

Yes, color code 67 (burgundy) was an available exterior color for the '69 Camaro.  On a Z/28 it would have had white stripes with it.   :)

Thanks Guys. Say, where might one go to research the available paint and stripe codes specific to the 69 Z/28? I'm also interested in any oddball factory special orders that may have been done for this particular car....not just the common colors.

Thanks again,

John

I remember reading about and seeing pictures of a 67 code 69 Z ordered with red Z stripes.  I think the car was somewhere around San Jose, CA(?). I looked through some files I have, but couldn't come up with the article :(

There are no colors specific to the Z28.  They were available in the same colors any other Camaro was available with.  As afar a special order paint, you could order any current (for the year) GM paint color as a special order.  Stripes would always be either black or white depending on the body's base color.  Again you could probably get a special order stripe color if you knew how to order it.

I have also seen the article on the burgundy Z with red stripes; Didn't appeal to me.

I'd have to see docs on any red striped Z.
I've seen original paint burgundy Z's and they were white striped.....

According to the info packet from Chevy, section iii page 45, "striping color application chart" the standard stripe color for a burgandy (67) regardless of interior color or vinyl top color, standard stripes color would be red.

There is a notation, # White stripe when Special Performance Package is ordered.

I havn't seen one.

I bought my Z in 1978. It is a #67 car, burgandy with white stripes. I'm restoring it now and I'm going back original as much as possible.

Tom,
That note also shows up on the mid-year ordering info.
Special Performance Package = Z28 = white stripes. :)
