Are you sure about the engine assembly date?  That's over 8 months after the block was cast.   :o

No hurry.
Thanks!

Yes, it should be a 2 bolt.

That car is an early sept 68 built, with a late august engine assy date the L on the casting date would make more sense as a H. any chance the H was mistaken for an L?

this engine has been rained in for several months and is sitting in a old impala at a wrecking yard.
the wrecking yard wants $100.00 for it.i just dont know if its good anymore as for cylinder rust etc.
should i save this engine?
what do you guys think? :-\

A hundred bucks is cheap if it's a complete engine, not cracked, standard bore and you believe you can clean it up with a slight bore.  On the other hand, FK engines (327cid/210hp) aren't rare or in high demand.  I guess it comes down to, do you need (or want) another project for the summer?  Now, if the engine assembly code had DZ at the end...    ;D
Either way, have fun and keep looking!

One man's junk another man's treasure.  Wish that beast was close enough to Lake Tahoe / Carson City / Minden, NV area whare I could run over and pick it up.  Same engine that is in my '69 RS; FK = 1969 Camaro 327 w/ Powerglide.  In my years of searching the junk yards, I've only found one '69 Camaro 327 engine - the one now in my car.  I wouldn't necessarily agree that you can run down the street and find one - you would probably find that it might be easier to find a DZ block because people hang on to them.
