I emailed him to find out the VIN, checking for my engine. His VIN could not be 406XXX, needs to be 6XXXXX.

Gary -

I agree with you and that's why I stated the seller thinks the vin is what's posted.  I called him and directed him to the partial vin location over the phone.  He said it was "tough to read" and this is his best guess with the naked eye.  It will be interesting to see what vin he comes up with in response to your email.  Please let us know.

Hi Guys. Nice group you have here. I'm the wes-in-nc listed above. The VIN really is hard to make out but it looks to be as my buddy said. If I can help to answer any questions, Please feel free to ask. Thanks, Wes.

That engine has found a home and will never be for sale again.  Azure69z28 is a friend of mine and I was sitting there when he was bidding on the engine.  It will spend it's life between the fenders of an Azure turquoise 1969 Z/28.

I'm glad to hear the engine will go back into a '69Z!  Is your friend's car by any chance the original Z/28 the engine came out of?

If the person who had the engine is correct it is not but there is only 1 digit different in the vin.

Wow, either way the engine sounds like a winner for your friend's Z/28!   8)

A lot of money ($11,000) for a 30-40K motor that already had extensive work done to it.   Did he have the smog equipment to go with the manifolds?   Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the block was bored .30 you can add 5 Cubic Inches to the total engine size.  Don't get me wrong I'm not saying you got a bad deal, it's just something I personally wouldn't do.

What city and state is Dale located in?  Just asking for this thread.  Thanks in advance.

Wes,

Dale was very impressed with your friend (Brent I think) and how meticulous he is.  I have now looked at the engine and it appears to be very nice.
