Title: 68 Shoulder Harness
Post by: gms on May 02, 2023, 05:08:56 PM
Thank you in advance.  I have a Std interior, black seat belt, w/buckle that shows a model# 277. Dated 28th wk of 68. Researching CRG I thought it was a front shoulder harness for coupe, but length of belt measures approx. 21”. Would this be a rear shoulder belt or maybe for a convertible?  Any assistance is appreciated.

Have you seen this report?

http://www.camaros.org/seatbelt.shtml#tags

Scroll down and it lists the belt numbers and applications.

From the picture you posted it looks like the belt has been cut. Is it frayed at the end?

Yes, I had looked at that report prior to posting, and the reason I questioned the length.
I never thought of it being cut off. Good catch. I will compare it to some other belts.
Sometimes it just takes a different view. Thanks for the look.

The webbing should look like this…both sides.

Thanks that may be helpful. I was looking for my original 13A69 front std. seat belts when I came across this belt.

the model # would indicate where used as the shoulder model # was different from the seat belt # as was the different model # used i back seats.

Since we’re on the topic of seat belts. My research is not coming up with a # 1902
69 Camaro (716- Blue) Deluxe Seat belts. 2-1952 - Front Lap, 1-1914 - Front shoulder, 2-1902 shown with small buckle. Is this rear shoulder belts…?. Dated early 69. (34th wk, 68). Would like to determine RPO for this set. The only cover I have, had both a 1952 and 1902 together if that helps.

Did you click on the link that Bryon (bcmiller) posted above?  Send a full size photo and I will try to post it as your photo is too hard to see due to size.

69 Deluxe
1907 - Front lap
1952 - Front shoulder
1914 - Rear lap (early)
TBD - Rear Shoulder

I THOUGHT 1902 was deluxe rear shoulder but don't quote me.

Yes, I checked the CRG link first thing. It shows TBD for rear shoulder belt. Reading some of the other post makes me think rear shoulder belts.
Looking at this thread, I probably should have started a new one. I will try to upload a full size pic.

Hamill model number 1902 is for a 1969 Chevelle front center position and a 69 chevelle wagon 3rd seat position.
Model 1952 was shoulder belts and was used on both Camaro and Chevelle, although the lengths are slightly different.
Model 1914 was used on Camaro early rear laps and early Chevelle Fronts.
No small (RCF67) buckles were used on 69 camaros, but were used on Chevelles. Chevelle Blue webbing color is slightly
darker than Camaro webbing, as it appears in your photo. Based on that information I would say you have a set of belts
  from an early 69 Chevelle.

Thanks Clete for reply. So I guess another way to distinguish the difference is Chevelles used a buckle on the 1952 front shoulder harness, while Camaros used the insert. ?

model 1952 was for shoulder belts for GM A bodies and F bodies. both the console side (buckle) and the roof section ( the D-ring) used the same model number (1952)  Both Chevelles and Camaros used the D-ring (which is sometimes called the clip)
on the roof section. This roof section anchor is only for the roof and has 2 bolts anchoring it ( 5/16-18 x 7/8 long hex bolts).
None of the sections in your photo are roof sections with this style anchor. They all have H-11 floor anchors. Your photo is an incomplete set.
