I'll bet the two boys in the Camaro were dead before the cars motion came to an eventual rest.

I believe that's the worst accident I have ever seen in a photograph. Btw, are we sure its a real Z/28? Reason I ask, it appears to have an automatic transmission. OR, am I missing something?

This is kind of a tough one for me. I lived 1 mile from where this happened. Never knew all of the facts until I read everything and all links yesterday. It was pretty much wide open on the weekends on Germantown, North and South Terrace like the guy in the 69 road runner states. I lived just off Germantown in East Ridge. I did know some of the guys that ran in that group but not the driver or the car. 8 years after this I had built my first 68. The hugger orange 427 car in the Interesting Period Photos string. Made many a pass down that exact route testing motors, carbs, gear changes, etc. I worked at Englands paint and body beside Mostellers Garage. Passed that car everyday on the roof. I never knew until yesterday it was a 69 Camaro. From the road it was that unrecognizable. Honestly I mostly chose not to look or study it. I can reflect back on about a half dozen times that only by the grace of God and his mercy I didnt end up the same way.

Back in the 1980s in LA, I witnessed an accident at the street races. One of the cars involved was a nice '69 SS Camaro racing I believe a Mopar. Anyways, they went through a 4 way stop and the Camaro clipped a mini-truck during a left turn, and kept going. The guy in the mini truck was ok, however banged up. His truck was totaled. Never heard or seen the guy in the Camaro again.

I'm now 73. I remember the days of being bullet proof and 10 feet tall. I too, have wondered how I'm still alive after all these years. These hallowed forums have helped over the past decades to find vital info (and friends) on our Camaro's. They've also helped drive home the fact that we're only here for a short time.
