Looks like the wrong con VIN stamping 19L530656 was partially stamped over the V0418DZ engine stamp.

It’s off by 1 digit which happened (as I have found by reading) but wasn’t it supposed to be fixed before it left the assembly plant?

Hard to see with the alternator in the way. Missed it.

Not the clearest picture but you can at least see all the numbers and characters. The VIN stamp does not look right to me though.

The random large fonts are a known anomaly for later VN block stampings.

This also is a burnished brown LA Z that was on eBay a few years ago. The seller wanted an offer before you could have someone look at the car. It never got any bids and I have no idea what happened to it. The original engine was out of it and it had another engine in it so you got both. The pictures were terrible but it was a pretty neat car. I think it had an Endura bumper also

Referring to photo 112, has the side cowl panel been replaced?  I couldn't see the partial hidden VIN.

Thanks William. I saw the large number 6 in the VIN and wondered what that was all about. I just figured the number got lost/broken/worn out, and that’s what was used to replace it.

There were many cars that did not get the second hidden VIN. The car I am working on now does not have one. I looked around the area and it's not there.. Danny

Any idea why that happened?

An operator at Norwood or Van Nuys when they were building 1969 Camaros would have about a minute to perform a task, so it is possible for mistakes to be made when stamping partial VIN numbers as the Federal requirement to do so had been recently passed:

https://www.vintageautomotive.net/?tag=frame-vin

I was working at the Van Nuys Plant when we were required to apply the anti-theft labels on various parts on Camaros and Firebirds and remember the problems we initially had on the assembly line and cars had to be pulled off the line when the labels were not applied properly.

Guys,
Doing an internet search last night I was very surprised to see a picture of my stamp pad in images. it brought me here where I have been a member for a little while as I have another interesting Van Nuys built car that I purchased a few years back.
This purchase was a tough one for me because I am a numbers guy and this had no pop or build sheet etc. I saw this car on BaT in February and loved it. Went and inspected it while the auction was going and did bid on it. It did not come close to his reserve but we stayed in touch. In June he reached out and we made a deal. I did the best I could without have a J. McNeish report by scouring the internet for clues to real deal Van Nuys (or Norwood for that fact) Z28 cars. Checking all the boxes I had, I went ahead and purchased. 69 Z been a favorite of mine forever! I am in the So. Cal area and if anyone ever wanted to look to compare notes on their Z28 cars i would love to talk to you. I even have a lift in my garage. I love to talk cars. One last thing is that I have my name in for Jerry to come out and inspect this Z28 and the 67 Camaro I own, the next time he makes a trip out to California. Probably everyone here knows his fees for the inspection but there are also per diem and flight fees etc. His manager Norm does not have any idea yet as to when he will be out this way, but I am figuring winter. If anyone else needs their car inspected by him out here it would be a good idea to get on the list. I will also offer my lift for the day if anyone is semi-local to the Santa Clarita area and wants to use it for the inspection.
Now a little bit about the other Van Nuys Camaro I have. It is a first day build convertible built in late August. Vin ends in 000226 and Fischer Body #18. As most of you know, Van Nuys VIN numbers were sequential and counted all cars built. This included Impalas, Chevelles, Corvairs and I believe Novas. Very early build car with the complete intact born with drivetrain. Base convertible with 275HP 327, PowerGlide and a2.73 rear gear. Original Granada Gold, now black with the SS strip around the front of the nose.
Looking for any and all feedback on any of these Van Nuys built cars.

John - A 1969 Z28 that was built at Van Nuys sold recently on BAT and the seller did post a lot of information that you may find interesting:

I live in Palos Verdes, CA and I have a friend who owns a 1969 Z28, but it was built at the Norwood Plant.  We have a monthly Cars & Coffee that has been going on for over 10 years, but my friend's Z28 is the only one I've ever seen, although a number of replica Camaros with Z28 emblems have shown up.  My oldest friend had a 1968, 1973, and 1978 Z28, but he stopped buying them when he joined Toyota! - Mark

You are confusing the VIN with Fisher body codes. VIN numbers are sequential within each model line. Body scheduling codes are the ones that are sequential along all model lines.

Not true. The VINs were incremented by model. Only full-size was also built at LOS.
Yes, pretty low VIN, but production was ramping up and it was built about the 6th day of production. 18th convertible with deluxe interior.
