Post by: LVN 67 on February 12, 2023, 02:37:39 AM
I have ownend my camaro since 95. I bought it as a matching numbers car. After reading boomer632's post and other forum post on restamps and such it got me to wondering?? If the folks here could give a look, I would appreciate it. I hope I can get a picture to post

Thanks. All this time I was not sure. I found in my packet off paper work from previous owners an engine rebuild ticket  from 1987. I can see that it says hone & boil block. I wonder if it was decked also. This shop is still in there, might be worth a trip. Thanks again. I really have any no intention of selling this car any time soon, but good to have the info to be up front if I ever do.

Others here might also correct me, I am basing it off my Engine Stamp, ours do not compare, But I have been wrong before and usual defer to the guys with Tons more knowledge.
I could be out to lunch and you should hear from others ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

If the block was decked, I would expect to see swirl marks. Your picture certainly shows what look like broach marks. The letter 'M' looks period correct. Attached is a picture I found with a VIN close to your timeframe. The common numbers look the same.

The presence of broach marks alone shouldn't correlate with being authentic.  Machines like the ones that put the broach marks in at the engine plant still exist today so those marks can be reproduced accurately.  I was offered that service when I had my engine sourced.  I passed intentionally to avoid a future re-stamp forgery.

I went out searching for more block stamping pictures today and found one over on the Super Car page that shows the stampings really well. I am not computer literate enough to move a page so I'll  post where I found it. The article was 67 L-78 started by 67 Nova Boy on 11-3-2018. The article goes on to talk about the 67 Indy Pace Car engine, and its development. Reply #7 shows a picture of the block stamping. The assembly date is the same as mine, and the Vin numbers are somewhat close. Again, sorry about my limited computer skills.

Charley,
Yes, the T0106MY stamping is good.
That's why I split the thread apart!

That stamp is good! The VIN is spot on with what I have seen. Broach marks are good as well.
