Title: 1968 Transition from 1967 style to 1969 style washer pump
Post by: Pacecar on September 30, 2022, 01:11:59 AM
There appears to be a transition during the 1968 model year from using the 1967 style washer pump to the 1969 style. Does anyone know or can help with when this occurred? The 441 wiper motor wad used but the 1967 style which bolted with longer screws through the plastic seems to have been used through at least February. Somewhere there was a change to the 1969 style which had a square type plastic cover and short screws mounted directly from the metal. thanks

Are you referring to the actual pump (bone colored plastic) or the electric motor cover?

Both my 68 12D LOS & 03D NOR appear identical..

Btw the motors are ink stamp dated.  12D’s is 322 67 AB, 03D’s is 45 68 AB

I am referring to the plastic motor cover which is most prominent. But the entire housing is different. 67's used a long screw through the plastic while the 69 style used short screws to mount the washer pump. Looking at the back side, the 67 operated with a plastic or nylon mechanism while the 69 used a metal mechanism.

1st 2 photos are from 12D LOS and last photo is 03D NOR.  All long screws and both cars and units are unrestored originals.

The ones you’ve witnessed or observed with the short bolts in 68; were they ‘441 or ‘572 motors?
