Title: Caveat Emptor...tag swap
Post by: william on September 21, 2022, 01:59:00 PM
https://www.ebay.com/itm/255736846768

124379N596926

That VIN was final assembled at Norwood OH on or about February 12, 1969. Has an 01C/I371 Van Nuys CA body tag. Hidden VIN is 9L516898.

No question about this one; good pics of both tags. This car was on BAT last year; I questioned it. BAT pulled the listing. None of this is mentioned in the current ebay ad.

Sounds like the car doesn’t know what it wants to be.

Don't know why someone would go through all the bs just for a custom / restomod.  But what do I know.

All what BS?

Someone has a lot of money in a car with questionable ownership/title. It could all go "poof" if/when law enforcement gets involved. It has definitely had the VIN switched out.

The only real solution is a state assigned VIN, and when that process is started the car may have to be forfeited.

Never looked at it that way - I stand corrected.
