Okay fellas, I've found two more engine numbers for you "numbers gurus" to decode if you would and they are as follows:
1) FI228 YS
2) VII23WA
Thanks in advance...Clint

Both are truck engines. YS = 1966 or 1968 327 cid engine. WA could be a 283, 307, or 350 cid engine depending on the block casting date. If you know the block casting dates we can narrow it down for you.

"YS" was used in Chevrolet Trucks from 1965 through 1969 in a few configurations:
1965 - 283/185
1966 - 1967 - 327/220
1968 - 327/240
1969 - 396/310
The "WA" was also used in Chevrolet Trucks from 1965-1969 in the following configurations:
1965 - 1967 - 283/175
1968 - 307/200
1969 - 350/255
You'll need to get the date code to see which engine yours is.

I would have to think the F1228YS would be the 65 or 66 engine since the assembly plant code is "F" instead of "V". I don't remember the date the flint engine plant changed from F to V but I know it had changed by 1967.

The Flint V-8 prefix changed from "F" to "V" at the beginning of the 1967 model year.
