Title: ‘67 10 Bolt Posi Diff Lube Tag
Post by: melav8r on March 04, 2022, 04:42:24 PM
Anyone have a factory 10 Bolt Posi in their ‘67? If so did it come with the stainless steel “…LIMTED SLIP DIFF. LUBE…” tag on one of the cover bolts or the red plastic “…POSI DIFF. LUBE” tag on the fill plug?
I had a 67 Firebird that came with a 3.55 Posi 10 Bolt back in 1982 and it had the SS tag attached to one of the cover bolts.

From the 1967-69 Camaro Differential Carriers and Associated Parts (http://www.camaros.org/carriers.shtml) report...

Quote
All axles with positraction received a red plastic tag on the fill plug. The tag used for 1967 to 1969 Camaros has the following wording "USE POSITRACTION DIFF. LUBRICANT ONLY". The hole in the tag is slightly larger in 1967 compared to 1968 and 1969, because the 1967 plug is larger.

So even though it seems settled, is your 67 a 10 bolt or 12 bolt?

The tags often were often lost or not put back on and could become brittle. I have a 1967 Nova 10 bolt BE 3.08 Posi with the correct plug, but the tag is missing.
