Looking for information on how many of these cars are left and which ones are they
-
There were 1,138 L78 Camaros built in 1967 but there's also no way to know how many are left. A quick count in our database shows around 175 listed (not including the fakes with restamped engines and fake trim tags) with around 30 of those being convertibles.
NOTE: Edited 01-31-2022 to fix miscount.

I personally know of: 1967 Conv SSRS 4K
One Red/Black Seattle area.

Of the 1138 L78’s built in 67, 1025 were Coupes and 113 were Convertibles
Paul

Paul, you once told me you didn't have a breakdown of coupes vs convertibles when I asked you about my 68 L89. Has new information come to light?
Ed
-
We have total and a breakdown of some of these by ECL codes. Once we figure out what the ECL codes stand for based on numerous window stickers/car shippers/car invoices etc. we can then break down into numbers.

Thanks Paul. Email sent.

That 80 of the 113 are known is almost unbelievable.
-
Is there not an official list of verified cars that someone has made ?

Thankyou, 113 made makes a 67 4k convertible pretty rare. How many are known or estimated to be left ? thanks

Sorry guys, I miscounted. We have approx 175 4K cars in the db with around 30 of those being convertibles. Not 200 and 80 as I previously posted, which I've now edited and fixed.
And as I originally stated above, there's no way to know how many are left. The ~175 we have in the db aren't necessarily accounted for. Some of the data came from GM shippers, dealer invoices, orphaned POP's, etc... About 20 of the 4K convertibles in the database are accounted for.

No way to know. Why do you need to know?!!
-
Bought one this week, not been on the road since the early 70's. Checking on numbers
-
Post high resolution pictures of the trim tag, the engine pad, the rear axle suffix and the transmission suffix & partial VIN. What's the VIN? We may have it in the DB.

Well, your car is in the database from 2005 with a note that says the car was rolled in or around 1973 then purchased in 1992 as a stripped shell after being recovered from a creek bed! In 2005 it was under restoration. I'd LOVE to see a picture of the car now. I can't imagine a rolled car being restored, but people have restored worse!
It doesn't say if the original drive train was still with the car but I'm assuming not since it has "stripped shell" in the description.

I sent some pics to your email, can't get them to load on this forum.
-
Around 1982 we dug out a 1960 Impala convertible 348 car from a creek. Took 2 days. Car had front end damage, no engine. Car was sold and eventually restored. It survives today.
-
As of 4:15PM today, I haven't received your email. When did you send it and how big are the files?
Ed
-
If its easier to text the photos you can send them to me and I will share them with the group.

It's a BEAUTIFUL car!! He also has a few of the car before the restoration that I've asked for. That way I can post the "before and after" shots!

BDY 150350? 150380
This one was at the GM nationals in 2007. I believe Chuck (427KING) owned this car at one time.

Awesome Vert!

No, Trent's car's been off the road since 1973 when it rolled! The car in your picture is a Norwood build. Trent's is an LA build. Same F-1 (Island Teal) color though.

I'm sorry Bert I was referring to the Body Number for the car I posted.
NOR150350 or 150380 I do not have the VIN, I posted photos a year or more ago on Yenko and thats where I found out the info I posted above.

Great looking 4K.

I believe we judged that car back then

Rolling a vert. would not be very good for the driver... do we know how that went ? Vince

Here is the data on the 04C 4k pacer I inspected for an auction company a few years ago IIRC the car is presently for sale on the West Coast.
-
Hey guys, getting ready to order my new top for the car pictured above. Recommendations for a supplier, of course factory white.
-
I don't remember who manufactured it, but I got my top from THE CAR SHOP (http://www.truckandcarshop.com/67-81Camaro/Camaro2019forweb/Camaro_2019.pdf) 20 years ago and it's held up well. Of course, the car is rarely driven and it's ALWAYS parked in the garage.

I have an Electron Top from my recent restoration, with no issues. I will say the installer didn't like the first one they sent (said it had been sitting in storage too long and had deep wrinkles) and had them send a "fresher" one. I seem to recall he insisted on using their frame pads as well, not sure about the cables.

Thanks for the info. We are going to try and have the car done in time to go to the nationals, time gets away.
-
A guy contacted me about one 10-15 years ago that was a wrecked shell that he was putting together with another body if I recall correctly. He was very forthcoming, but I chose to pass. I'll check my notes tonight and post whatever I have on it.
-
I couldn’t find my notes on the car mentioned above, but I suspect it is the same blue one in this thread. I did find info on another that I did not see personally. Utah car, 04D build, c-1, w 2lg 4K 5Y-LA181A. Car was in a mud slide, restored in 2001, guy’s name was Hal. No Vin noted.
-
after reading some other threads about the Camaro Nationals event it sounds like it is full already, is this correct or what ? I won't know if i can go or not until sometime in May or June.
-
its only full on the inside but never know when some one has to cancel . There are 6 l78s at this time. Just try to make it and see what happens. Let us know , Thanks Kerry

Was this car out of Missouri? I know of a 4K vert that was rolled early in it's life in Missouri. Factory 4.88 what I'm told. Owner stripped car of parts including carrier (ring gear still attached). I'm working on buying said parts to that car. Maybe some docs will surface but everything is in a barn.
-
My car lost its first life in Arkansas but later was moved to Missouri, 3.73 posi car. But who knows. I would love to here about your barn find parts.

Turns out it was a vert with 4.10 gears intended for the track. Never titled, wrecked, stripped, and scrapped. I tried to delete my previous comment but was unable to. I'm hoping for more parts but drug addicts have been on the guys property stealing.

Parchment Deluxe, almost done

^^Agree Keep at it!

got some outside pics today
-
WOW... GORGEOUS! The interior photo with the parchment is just sublime. Hard to imagine this is the same 'basket case' pictured above... NICE WORK!
It looks like your car and mine (04D, #2023) were within a couple days of one another.
Top came from Ciadella interiors in Tempe az.....Great People !!!
Did they do the install too? And the rest of the interior?
-
No, The top was installed at a local shop. The seats covers are from Legendary interior, installed on the frames locally as well.
-
another outside pic

Cool Shot, esp the Light rays streaming above the trees. Tripod that shot and a little longer exposure you can make light do some fantastic things.
Cool fence too.
-
Great looking car! Do you have a shot of the engine?
-
This is a work in progress image. A few things need corrected.
-
It looks great! thanks
