Title: Large Barn Find
Post by: rocco376 on January 16, 2022, 11:22:27 AM
This video just came on YouTube.  It's a huge barn find at a farm in Oklahoma.  NOS 68 and 69 Camaro and Chevelle parts, several 1969 Z28 cars, and more DZ blocks than I could count.  The parts were all purchased by Heartbeat City in Michigan.  Incredible stuff.

Does anyone know the story of the collector/original owner/farmer?  Did he pass away and family sold off his cars to HBC?
OR know when this video was made?

Hi, I am Peter Rose, its my YouTube video that has been posted. My YouTube channel is digitalpizza.
The man who owned the collection died in August of Covid. Very sad.
Brings home the fact that this disease needs to be taken seriously.
I don't want to be the one to share the identity of who or where it was to protect the privacy of his family.
I did not know him personally, but his family and the people who live in the area are wonderful people and my heart breaks for them.
I feel lucky to have been part of the story of preserving his dream and passion for these cars.

Thank you Peter.  Totally understandable not to expose the man's family.  I was curious if I'd ever known of him, since he obviously collected Camaros/Chevelles and their parts for many many years!

Even the travel part of your video was interesting showing the terrain changes from California to Oklahoma.. :)

My best friend Chuck Fisher has a large collection of cars and parts too and I work with him on projects. Cars are featured in Musclecar Review And I worked on them. I live my life as I always have. Shake hands, don't wear a mask unless sanding body filler. Don't wash my hands and touch food in the store. Pretty sure I had it and never got tested or vaccinated. Seems everyone freaks out if they have a sniffle.

Had a friend who had stage four inoperable brain cancer and was given 4 weeks to live. When he died he had covid so he was listed as a covid death. That is a joke. Sheeple.

He flipped the 2 camaros and most of the camaro parts before I got hooked up with him.

He picked the right one to keep.. Numbers matching 65 GTO tri power 4 spd - nightwatch blue over black buckets w/console

For as long as I have been a car guy (long time) I have slowed done or turned around while travelling at the sight of some tail lights or grill of a muscle car peeking out from a shed thinking I spotted something. Stopping resulted in meeting some nice car people and occasionally someone with a shotgun. Most times resulted in not for sale and I don,t really recall ever leaving with anything worth remembering but I still do it.

One would think that when you find a batch of a certain item, the prices go down - rare coins for example where inventories , once in short supply, suddenly become more common. In the case of the discovery of quite a number of DZ blocks, one would think the same?  Would be curious into knowing what HBC would be asking for one.

I was there and looked at every car in detail.
Every one of them are exactly what they appear to be.
The owner only bought quality cars over a 25 year period.
Yes, there were a a few 6 cylinder or standard cars, but 98% were the real deal.
Beware of opinions from anyone who wasn’t there

Yes, that particular car had all the signs of being an X77
No trim
Power Disk brakes
Correct part numbers on the motor mounts
12 bolt rear
4 leafs
Muncie Hole
Distribution block and last but not least, X7 grease pencil mark

I had someone threaten me with a Glock when I saw a Yenko Nova parked in someone's driveway.  I stopped to take a gander - that's when I thought "oh Sh.t". It was gone a week later..........

I noticed in your videos on youtube you were restoring a LB 69 Z.  Tell us about that car?  Original drivetrain?  Post up some photos!

Hi Vince,
Yes, there were engine, body and interior parts all over the 5 buildings of every type and description.
I would guess that most engines that were there would be able to be completely built with just the parts that were there.

My Lemans Blue car is being reassembled now and I have a series of YouTube videos on that car on my channel. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1YHj9wgP_Aih1THOSXqQOdoB0F3CCLlA
I was lucky enough to have successfully contact the second owner of the car and buy the original engine block for the car. The original rear end was with the car, but the transmission is not original to the car.
The car has been certified by JM .
Here is the car as it sits presently and I will be producing more YouTube videos on the completion of the car over the next few months

Maybe you missed it but I asked if you had photos of the stampings for the DB.  I took a little time and went back in your videos and pulled images so we could add it and let others take a look.  I figured you wouldn't mind sense it was shared in the video.  I gotta say you moved pretty quick over the stuff but I was able to snag some decent shots.  Nice restoration btw.  I am curious about the story as to how you found the "original" engine?  I think you said the trans was a restamp or am I misremembering?

I watched Peter’s YouTube barn find video. It’s always exciting when these finds pop up!  When I travel for work and driving some back roads, I often wonder what could be stored away in the barns and sheds I pass by?!?

Peter,
I sent you an email to I introduce myself, and share some info on my ‘69 LeMans Blue RS Z28. I have several questions about what you found on your Camaro when you restored it. Would like to chat some time.
