Title: Throttle cable
Post by: wcuster208 on January 14, 2022, 01:54:46 PM
HEY Group! Hope all are well and safe.

Just had th350 rebuilt in '67 base. Has a 327, but trans shop said 4bbl carb is stretching throttle
cable from pedal, limiting carb opening fully. The original powerglide is gone and was switched from column to floor shift.
Any personal experience with this? Any part numbers for an adjustable carb bracket/extender or complete cable to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

thanx

Your car didn't originally come with a cable so I'm assuming it's aftermarket.

Instead, it came with a rod like the one shown in the AIM drawing below (item number one). These are available from most vendors and you'll need either part number 3909978 for a 2bbl, P/N 3899072 for a 4bbl (first design - 13 13/16" overall length) or P/N 3909981 (second design - 12 31/32" overall length). You'll also need the attaching parts (items three, four, five, six and eight) which are also available from most vendors.

If you want to stick with a cable, you'll have to contact places like Lokar to see what they have.

Hey Ed,

Maybe an original 6 banger ? Memory serves they came with a cable throttle -

Correct Steve, but that started in 1968. 1967 still used the rod.

Yep, 68’s used a cable. Mine is still there.
