Title: 68 camaro rs/ss Speedo cable routing and replacement
Post by: Matt f on October 10, 2021, 11:32:18 AM
Hi All,
I have a 68 rs/ss muncie 4speed.

Sorry if this has been talked about recently but have a question if anyone can shed some light please.
1. My Speedo cable needs replacing but it's hard to identify if the previous owners have run the cable correctly...currently running downwards from the dash through the firewall then through the chassis back around on Top of the exhaust and into the inlet on the passenger side. This seems really wrong according to the manual but not sure. Also through the same whole in the f.w. there are wires passing through as well. Is the normal?

Thankyou in advance

Matt

Speedo cable should come out of firewall in the hole just to the driver’s side of the center of top of trans tunnel, then held by clips as it goes backward through the trans tunnel toward the back passenger side of the tail housing.

Non-Muncie cars use a different routing.
