Although the VIN and body tags appear to be real, they were removed from the car during the restoration. They were poorly re-installed using non-automotive rivets. Be aware this could result in registration problems.

Wow... what a mess.
If the trans is original it would be a CX and if that were revealed to be correct the car could only be a L78/L89... However the trans appears to be a TH350 which puts this as a 350 Pacer.

Statement by the owner or rep for the car stated the trim tag had been removed during restoration and re-installed (no joke !), but the VIN tag had never been removed from the car. Strange to see the Pop Rivet stem still in the hole on the passenger side rivet, which have been installed wrong side up anyway. Trim rivets look like WWll Tiger tank exhaust shield rivets, not that I've ever seen any.
Bet you it still brings a faii amount - tough to resist a big block vert, especially by people that could care less about whether things are on the legal up and up. Shame -

Top of dash was replaced with the poor repro. VIN tag had to be removed and re-installed.

Link says that it sold for $83,500. Wow.

To spend that kind of money only to spend the rest of your ownership having people tell you everything that's wrong with the car. Yikes!
