On 67 Z28 with RS they got the pinstripes - Z28 with style trim I assume the same.

No mention of pin stripes on the doors in the original post, thus my assumption he's referring to 69...?

not the best picture but I am talking about the ones on the side that are on the fender and follow into the door and on the quarter the reason I ask I have a 3 week of sept 1968 z28 and in a old picture is has these pin stripes

IT is possible to have the D96 pins on a 69 Z built the 3rd week of Sept 1968.
This is from the link William posted in the first response - and the most relevant response of that thread is from William and states:
I interpret this to indicate is D96 was now optional with Z/28 or DX1 and Z21/Z22, no longer included.
This insinuates some very early production Z21 and Z22 Z/28s were built with D96. June 2014 there was an early production [mid-September '68] Z/28-RS on ebay. The car was rough and had a poor repaint early in its life. The repaint had mostly flaked off and D96 striping was visible.
Guessing here, I'd say Z21 & Z22 Z/28s included D96 striping for a short period of time. Per the Showroom Album Revision, D96 was no longer included but became optional as of late September '68. As a discrete option, D96 is rare, 5,176 cars. At some point, possibly the January '69 revision, the one stripe per car restriction was put in place.
Based on my db by the end of September '68 only 600-700 Z/28s had been produced. Of those about 58% had Z21 or Z22. That's about 400 cars; maybe a few more were also ordered with D96. Small wonder I have never seen an OE paint Z/28 with D96.
In conclusion, best guess D96 on a Z/28 with Z21/Z22:
August-September '68 probably included
October '68-December '68 optional but very rare
January '69 to the end of production-no longer available.

No, installed with Buegler paint stripers.

Thanks Kurt... sounds too labor intensive for a production line, and is probably why the later decision was made to minimize 'stripes' to only one stripe set per car... ?

Was not done free hand. Plastic guides were positioned on the body; workers rolled the striping tool along the guides.
As built, ZL-1 Camaro #59 had white D96 stripes on one side, black on the other.

Same thing they use today for striping in the plants. It's been more than a few years - I always remember the car moving and the stripe heads striping the car as it goes by. But if the line shuts down mid-stripe that's a problem so either they had a repair process or (more likely) the striper moved independent of the line. When I was in the plant, it was automated - it picked up the reference points and moved per the guides. In the plants I was in, this was done on the flat-top conveyor on the final line.

Thanks for the link. I'd heard about those pictures, but hadn't seen them.
One correction - that's not an assembly line picture, but an assembly plant picture, post-assembly line.
For the Camaro, this was done on the final line. From John's http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml#final (http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml#final): pinstriping fixtures were applied and Z21/D96 pinstripes were painted with Buegler roller-striping guns, and D90 door stripe decals were applied.
