Title: L78 Survivor Mystery Hole
Post by: Bigfish45 on August 13, 2021, 04:40:47 AM
I was looking at some pictures of a 1969 survivor L78 Pace Car and noticed a hole on the firewall I have never seen before. Do any of you know what this is for or have ever seen this before? I'm puzzled.

My Guess is a "owner servicing modification" Possibly a Mechanical Temp gauge that needed clearance for the thermal bulb and nut to pass thru the firewall.  I do not think that is a Fisher or CHevy Hole.

The hole could be for a tach cable.

I had a SS350 that had hole(s) in the same areas for a Sears, add on ac. Had a York compressor. The unit mounted under dash and was thin and followed the contour of dash indicating it was specially made for that 69 F body/ Nova application. At 18, it was the 1st thing a ripped out of the car.

My son has a 67 that had add on air removed had similar hole in firewall. I always assumed it was for the hoses.
