Title: RS Headlight Vacuum Actuators
Post by: Tinkerr on May 18, 2021, 01:28:24 AM
I found a old thread from 2007 that JM recommended High Torque Vacuum Actuators from Rick's Camaro. It hasn't been Rick's Camaro for years and I haven't found any listings for these in 2021. Anybody familiar with these? Are they available anywhere or have they evolved into what available today? Thanks

I've never heard of that but. I'm interested.

Same here.  Heard of the "high torque" units but have never been able to find any offered by the parts suppliers.  Original supplier may have discontinued.  Someone on this forum will know.

I'd suggest getting these from CHQ - Rick has an ongoing reputation as a resource for some of the best reproduction parts, I'll likely get my replacements for the Z11 here.

I had good luck with the Eckler's (Rick's Camaros) actuators part number 33-179760-1 for my 68 RS/SS.  Of course changing all the hoses and door bushings is a must.  Now the trick is aligning headlight doors with the grill.
