Hello all,
I need assistance with decoding the following numbers:
Engine Block serial number VIII6ME casting number 3892657 K98
Head 3998993 A83
Rear Axle BS1108G2
E
Thanks in advance....Clint

It's a '67 327/210 Powerglide, cast November 9, 1966 and assembled November 16th; the heads aren't original to the engine, cast January 8, 1973. Axle is a 3.31 Posi 12-bolt, assembled November 8.

I have never heard of a 3892657 block cast past 1967. I would have to think that the casting date is actually November 9, 1966 and is a 1967 327/210 powerglide for a 67 camaro.

I agree with RAfbody. I believe the casting date was misread and is 66 and not 68. It is very hard to tell a 6 from an 8 sometimes. Also an ME suffix is a 1967 not a 69 according to Chevrolet by the numbers book.

I agree - should have noticed that; edited my previous post.

Hello all,
Since my car was built second week of October 68, and the rear axle was assembled on November 8th, could this be original for this car? Thanks in advance...Clint
