Title: 1969 Z28 Trunk Restoration
Post by: McFly on April 08, 2021, 06:59:28 AM: Just bought this 69 Z28. Would like to stop the surface rust on the bottom of the deck panel in the trunk. What is the correct way to paint/preserve this area.
Does the spatter paint look correct?

I'd like to 'do something', but I also want to preserve the originality... Do any of you have any suggestions for how to do both??

I wouldn't want to discolor the package tray would be my only hesitation.

Looks good. Agree with the Remoil,,if you are inclined to coat it,comes in wipes.

Mine has trace,,at most. I left it. After 53 years, (now), if that's the worse, not bitchin' 😉

What you should be looking for is the correct padding that belongs under the new rear shelf cardboard.

Do you know of a source for the 'correct padding' that goes underneath the rear shelf cardboard? Mine is in place along with the rear shelf and has never been removed, so I don't really even know what it is or how it's supposed to look, but from inside my trunk, I can see 'something' which is deteriorated coming thru the holes in the metal shelf....
