I'm gonna vote fake! If what CRGs latest report shows is true Z10 didn't begin production until O4C. This car is hadr to see but looks like a March build date. Lot of things wrong. Looks like it was pulled out of a lake.
-
Nice of them to steal the image of the Z10 and Z11 from the CRG report page. Its been on Ebay a couple of times Heres the tag all by itself, from a January Ebay Auction.
Oh, and its a complete fake, both the tag, and the thought that this car was ever an SS, let alone an RS/SS
-
Mark....Was the buyer of the tag in the January auction the seller of this car?
-
Seller was 998666 from TN, he's been selling modified, and repro trim tags, some VINs and restamped engine components for atleast the last 8 or 9 months under various different ebay accounts. The tag ddn't sell, in that auction, but that is tyhpical of his stuff, he either ends it early or puts a very high reserve on it then sells it outside of ebay. He's scammed quite a few people, some of which are on this site, and Camaros.net.
Heres the old thread on camaros.net talking about this tag and the seller.

does anyone know his name?
-
Anyone know the legalities of this, as far as what can be done? I'm getting really PO'd as I'm sure a lot of others are. My neighbor is a Federal Marshall. I think I'm going to show this to him. I'm sure he can find his name.
-
The guy that originally had the fake Z10 is Al Hill, aka, Fat Alberts in Jackson, TN Some of his ebay names are jaminnow, chevepart, and ringblow, and now 998666.
-
This begs the question: Why would anyone fake a Z10?
-
I was looking at bidding on this car but noticed this discussion. What makes this fake? I have owned a Z10 since 1970 that has the same build date 03E, although its been a red car for the last 25 years. You guys kinda get to me thats why I never list any of the cars that I have collected over the years on your registries. I started to try to do something with my Z10 about 10 years ago and it was probably you same guys that told me there was no such thing as a Z10, now you now everything about them...Kind of ironic isnt it. You can say what you want about the build date but you cant convince me, Ive owned it through times that it was only worth $400-$500 so its hard to deal with the criticism. Thanks for the expertise though.

I thought I knew a lot about what was what until I got on here and TC. But you can't argue with facts and the research these people do, and have done. There are a lot of people that try to rip other people off on these cars and their parts. It' not very funny when you read a story about Doug's 69 on Team Camaro. That's why some of us are quick to judge and not very forgiving about this stuff. Could your car be what you say it is? I don't know. There are some exceptions I guess, but you have to understand people being suspicious when there are so many that aren't.

Did you read the text and examine the photo from reply #2 above? That's what makes it fake. There are many other clues if you look carefully at the photos in the listing. For example, look at the interior trim code compared to what's in the car. ::)

Do you actually beleive that the poster was going to bid on the car, and just stumbled upon this thread? just regeistered today, and his first post. I'll give you 10 to 1 odds the poster is either the guy that has the pile of junk thats on ebay now, or he's the one who sold the tag to him.
If not, lets see a picture of this other alleged 03E Z10 trim tag on the red Camaro.
-
Nice job Mark. Nice fake 03E Z10 tag that made it's way to a body of another car.
-
With more and more trim tags showing up on eBay, it's nice to know we have people like Mark keeping up with them. I did a search and found these tags on eBay, three X-11 ($51-$303), X-55 ($150), X-66 ($800), and three X-77 ($460-$950). I have seen X-33 tags go for over a thousand dollars.
People buying these tags aren't framing and hanging them on their walls. I've seen sellers in their ads call Mark and other members the "Camaro Police" when the ads were questioned. Just be careful and do more investigating when you find that dream car. Wish I would have.

The seller of the Z10 claims to be in Seymour, Indiana where I'm sitting right here and now. The population here is about the same as what the sellers buy it now is. I've tried to contact this bozo the last couple of times he has advertised the car on both ebay and some of the camaro sites with no reply? Don't know why he wouldn't respond if its legit? If anyone can get a Seymour address for this joker just PM me and I'll take care of it.

Pat, Do you think this could be our old buddy back at his old tricks ? You know who I am talking about.. Frank from C+ ?
-
I know of another dirt bag in Indiana who tried to sell me my original engine. He's having his room an board covered by the State for a while. I wonder if he got out already and this is him?
-
It gets better.
This is the third auction that he has run.
1st one - deleted by ebay during the auction.
2nd one - used pictures stolen from a guy's camaros.net ad - auction deleted by ebay.
Now this 3rd time.
There's a couple of threads on camaros.net, under Tag Team, on this tag / seller.
-
He's back...

and he has lowered his "Buy it Now" price $6000.00. How does this guy sleep at night?

How does this guy sleep at night?
The pressure of the rock he's crawled under causes the metabolism to slow down in cold-blooded creatures, inducing deep sleep.

He must be getting desperate as he has lowered his "Buy it Now" price to $8200.00. I guess he should had accepted the $9600.00 bid from his last auction. :'(

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190117083215&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:MT:1
Now his "Buy it Now" price is $5500.00! That's $10,500.00 less than his original post! Can you spell desperate?
Paul
-
