This tag is not mine, but was posted in a Camaro group I am in asking if anyone else has a trim tag like the one in the pic.
-
Same tag format used on '68 COPO Camaros
-
The owner states it is a SS car, but I'm not familiar with COPO , since I've never owned one nor seen one in person.
-
Does it have a 140 mph speedo?
-
This is what he showed me
-
Export car, 200 kph speedo.
-
Owner stated it had a 140 mph speedometer and it quit working and was replaced
-
If the car is a COPO car does it really mean much? I mean I know 1969 cars are rare but what is a 1968 COPO car if it's not documented?
-
Owner states he is in possession of the original 140 mph speedometer
-
It can be repaired, DON'T throw it away. What engine and options are on it?
-
He states it now has 454 was originally a 427 has a turbo 400 and a 12 bolt 4.10 gear. He is now posting to sell the car. I'm not part of him selling it, I was only looking at the odd cowl tag
-
A pic
-
If you can get the VIN - run it through NCRS and determine the selling dealer.
-
Might check Super Car registry with vin # looks like possibly could be a Yenko! They have all the 68 yenko vin numbers on there sight. Think yenko only had 140 speed speedometer plus trim tag was odd like one you are showing. Be cool if it was.
-
KPH & Export used Magic Mirror? or am I confused.
-
Export tag and a rare 200kph speedo = export car. http://www.camaros.org/foreign.shtml#SUP
The VIN is not on the Yenko list either.
-
Kurt S had commented that the vin is not in the yenko registry
-
1968 427 Yenkos had a tag in the door jam.
also some 68 COPO Yenko Camaros were sold as SS396 not converted to 427
