Title: Taking Your 1969 Z28 to the Local Cars & Coffee
Post by: GMAD_Van Nuys on February 09, 2021, 12:02:54 AM: One of my friends got so tired of individuals asking him whether his 1969 Z28 was a real one or not, he brought along all the original documents. The cross-ram was purchased from the original dealer and when I asked him how his Z28 ran, he told me it needed 4.56 gears instead of the 4.10s.

These options and prices are from the dealer and were typed on their invoice on 2/24/69.

N40 Power steering MSRP was $94.80. Fast ratio steering was included with Z/28 and should not have been listed. Power front disc brakes [J52 $64.25] were a mandatory extra-cost option when ordering Z/28; not listed.

I gave up asking him about the Cobra, only to find out that he drove it to the show one day and parked it and walked away.

There are so many replica 427 Cobras around that only one enthusiast knew my friend's Cobra was a real 427 S/C and my friend just laughed!

Can I ask if it is a Van Nuys built car?

Post by: GMAD_Van Nuys on March 29, 2021, 07:51:02 PM: My friend's 1969 Z28 was built at the Norwood Plant and it was sold by a dealer on February 24, 1969, listed on the top of the invoice as a "Camaro Sport Coupe."
