Does the rear proportioning valve that is under the drivers door follow the same dating convention as everything else?
In other words, would this valve be dated a month or so prior to the build date?
Wondering, because these valves weren't used on every Camaro produced, therefore they weren't produced in the same quantities as alternators, water pumps, etc.
So it would seem that you could have a valve dated a few months prior to being installed on a car, therefore the question arises? Is it original to the car?
Maybe they were all blank, then date stamped before installation?
In other words, you'd have an 04A car with a valve dated 072-0.
Possible? Inquirng minds need to know!!!!

My original is 154-9, June 3rd. Car was built 8/29/1969 if that helps...Joe
-
Interesting - almost 2-1/2 months difference.
Thanks Joe!
BTW, I mean't to say 072-9, not 072-0. My bad.

My 09C Z28 (18 Sept 1969) has the proportioning valve: KH R 154 – 9 (3 June)
ie. 3 months prior to auto completion.
-
Most are dated pretty close to the car.
At least 2 of the cars listed were in the extended model year and they were using up old material.

With all due respect, then it’s possible that a 06A car could have a 027-9 valve?

Intersting results.
Looks like we may have stumbled onto something out of the ordinary in terms of conventional date coding / car build on this particular part.
Hopefully we can get Jerry to chime in.

My 09C build 67 Camaro has a date code 229-6. August 17th of 1966.
-
Then is it possible that a 06A car could have a 027-9 valve? Being such a late build car?
Thanks

Possible?? Yes. Very unlikely.

The dating is typical and predictable.
I have 120+ datapoints. Looks like the incoming batches were large (small part, easy to store), so the usage stretched over longer time periods.
