A beautiful Z28, and totally unique!   I'd love to have it...   I talked to the fella who restored it a time or two a year or so ago...  I couldn't believe he sold it.  Anyone know what the Mecum auction price was?

Congratulations. Now can we move on?
One of the most divisive subjects I've ever seen here, please let's just accept the disagreement occurred and stop the points scoring?

I think some of your 'responding' comments are NOT very complimentary of yourselves.   None of them respond with maturity to the initial post.   what if we ALL began responding with negative 'puking' comments wrt to other people's cars or colors??????   Is this the kind of site desired here?

Gary, I stand by my comment, which I don’t believe is in any way offensive. The subject was discussed at length several years ago, nothing more to add, and nothing productive to this forum and the vast majority of it’s membership, to revisit all that negativity. I’m out.

OMG...  Are you seriously going to ride this pony?  Although I agree camaronut's comment wasn't needed nor was this thread..

My comment was not meant to be offensive in any way. My apologies.

I thought that I might bring a little satire in the moment of this discussion.

To be honest I think the color is kinda neat.

I remember the original thread, and never disputed your claim you ordered it that way. That said, EO is not an attractive color on the 1969 Camaro. As you stated, and I am going to paraphrase here, your wife wanted a purple Camaro and you made a mistake by choosing this color and it did not look like what she wanted and that's why you sold it so quick.
Not sure why it's selling for so much now other than it's an odd duck. Also, Mecum has a personal interest in driving up the price of odd color Camaros. He owns a Carolina Blue 1969, which is also not a good color on this car.

I have been trading, collecting, cars since the 60,s. Nowadays the "odd" is what catches my eye even if it is not a popular color or option. All of my present cars have some "odd" feature. The EO would fit my collection perfectly even though I would have never had one back in the day.

Evening Orchid - this is a special paint car.

It's not a 'manly color', sort of a purplish pink, but for a lady it suits!  Clem ordered it for his wife because she wanted a purple car, but GM didn't have any 'purples' at the time; Evening orchid was the closest.  GM did paint several models in the color during the mid 60's..  I recall seeing several Chevelles (~64-65?) and full size Impalas painted that color ('66 - 67?).

I'd love to have it in my collection for a couple of reasons:  It's truly Unique (and a Z28), and Brad Scholl did an extremely nice job restoring it after his purchase from a used car lot a few years ago!   With information that Clem provided him, he 'restored' it to the evening orchid color.

Even though I'd love to have the car for the above reasons, when I 'showed it to anyone', I'd have to tell them I 'bought it for my wife'....  :)

Thanks for filling in the blanks. Although I am not new to first gens, I learn new things every day in the our passion for Camaro's.

Glad to see this car being discussed again, I for one think this is a great color for a camaro and would love to have this car in my collection.
