Hi everyone
Im attaching some photos taken today while checking out a documented 68 l78 canadian sold camaro. I only have three examples of real MQ 68 stampings to go by, which are later 68 blocks, and I'm hoping there are more in the CRG data base.
My concern is the letter Q in the engine code stamp differs from the examples I have. The 840 heads with it are both cast the exact same day as the block (L77 Dec/07/67).
thanks Bucky

I'm curious as to what camera/lens system was used to take those photos... ??

Share your concerns, but you’re in the right place to get the best advice from the very knowledgeable members here.
Are you the owner, or considering buying the car?

The Q appears to have the slight curve in the tail... it looks good to me.

I don't have a lot of stamps in that date range, but it looks reasonable.
-
Here are the 3 that i have for reference that i believe are later dates, with a distinctively different "Q"

Here’s a couple I have on file, cannot recall the source unfortunately. Didn’t post them previously, in case it influenced replies.
The April one looks to be the same pad as posted above.

Here is one I have on file around the same date. (https://i.ibb.co/nzTsW6.png) (https://ibb.co/syhvBhL)

Great, the T0404MQ block is one I used to own,it's since been reunited with the car a few years back. thanks for posting the pictures and all the responces.it seem there were two different Q's used.deepending on time of assembly,to answer a few questions above I was checking this car out for a friend, and he's paying up for the project , it's a documented canadian sold car,no problem there just wanted confirm on the different Q and make sure it is the born with motor, so it looks like it's a go, we'll load her up and bring it home . thanks again. Look forward to hearing more, hopefully with photos, once you have picked the car up!

I edited out the pictures. I don't want this to be a depository of pictures available to restampers....
I don't like how it compares to the T0112MQ stamp.
Look closer - the T0116MQ is a restamp. That pad has been decked.
