Ok.... I have two Delco coils.... 270 BR and 270 B-R. I read that the BR is for 68 and B-R is for 69. The BR is the original coil to the car.....not B-R. 69 SS 350 with cowl induction O6A build. Can anyone clarify why the disparity and what’s the difference between them? I know that the BR means ballast resistor, but why the difference? Was there a manufacturing change, etc???

Thanks Kurt....
Last night, a friend of mine who is big into C3 Corvettes told me that the connection studs were breaking loose when tightening, thus the change from BR to B-R...I guess GM made a change to the casting mould?
Anyone hear different?

I doubt that would be the cause seeing I've never seen a service bulletin about that.

Something about a drawing change in Sept. 1968...

Yes, that's what I wrote. I had looked at an original coil drawing:
The 293 Delco coil assembly print has the following change note: 9/12/68 - B-R was BR.
IIRC, there were not other changes on that date so it wasn't tied to another change.

Duh!!!! Sorry Kurt! Another brain fart........
No reason as to why the change.....that’s what I was wondering.
