Title: 1969 Camaro Protect-O-Plate with JL8
Post by: my69Z28camaro on August 23, 2020, 03:40:53 PM
Just out of curiosity, if a 1969 Camaro came from the factory with JL8 option, what would be the designator on the Protect-O-Plate in location J (Disc Brake Code)?

I'm not knowledgable about 'disk brake codes' on the protecto plate, BUT the protectoplate Does have the rear end stamped code on it (along with codes for the engine stamping, trans stamping, and VIN).   If the car were produced with JL8 (4 wheel disk brakes), then the code would be one from the chart here which are shown with 4WD...

//www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#AxleCodes

Per this chart, the possible rear codes for 4WD are:   QN, QS, QT, QU, QV, QW, QX, QY, and QZ.

QX 3.73 and QY 4.10 are the most common codes.
