Title: Gas Smell 69 Z
Post by: WaltZ on June 22, 2020, 02:22:48 PM
Gas Fume smell inside cab when driving, just sometimes.
Smell out side sometimes, seems from rear area, after a drive.
Absolutely no drips or signs of leaks anywhere.
Removed air filter, nothing in there, 780 Holley carb and breather tubes are dry too.
Replaced gas cap.
any thoughts
Thanks in advance

Drop the tank and put a new gasket under the sending unit. You can replace the flex hose to the frame line at the same time if you haven't done so already. I had a similar problem on my Z11, discovered the flex line was dry rotted, original to the car by the markings. OE stuff was great quality, but it won't last forever -

Regards,
Steve

Our '67 Z/28 fuel line was rusted through at the frame rail clip near the fuel tank.
