Title: clutch 68 z/28
Post by: pjbizjak on May 28, 2020, 02:02:36 AM
With clutch depressed to the floor I can't shift into reverse unless I shut the car off. the clutch is a 3 finger style new disc and resurfaced flywheel. In the next day or so I plan to put new bushings in for the Hurst shifter rods and see if that helps???

Check the throw out bearing to clutch fork. How did you position it?

it was the center force clutch causing these issues.
replaced with a LUK and very quiet and shifts like a hot knife thru butter.

Glad it was fixed.

Not going into reverse is a classic sign that the disk is not releasing.  First thing to check is the clutch pedal adjustment.  Needs to be 1" of free play at the pedal pad with finger pressure.  A little bit tighter can some times help but is not the solution.  If the adjustment is right and you do not find any lost motion in the linkage, the clutch assembly is the usual suspect.

I took out a Centerforce (for a different reason) and went back with a LUK as well.  Could not be happier.
