I didn't get a definative answer so I will try again. Does anyone know where and or why some 68 non RS Z28's had the front wiring harness routed between the inner and outer fender and some seem to have it connected to the inner fender with two vertical straps? Is it based on options or what, and does the washer hose go with the harness wherever it goes? I have a very light optioned Z: AM radio, console guages, no power steering. When I bought it, the washer hose was routed to the inner fender with two vertical straps attached to it.

Dude, get the factory assembly manual. All this stuff is covered in great detail there.

I have it and it shows it being routed between inner and outer fenders. However, I have seen some original cars that have it attached on the fenderwell as mine was. I'd like to know from someone that knows for sure when and why this is.

Hey I see this is an old post but just wanted to add my 2C because I just ran into this. My car is a 68 12D LOS. Original harness was routed outside fender with washer hose retained by the 2 straps. Got hit at Nationals last year for it not being inside fender so I moved it for this year. There was a 68 04C LOS Z in survivor this year...had the harness routed outside fender with washer hose. Noted it to Judges but they said the car had some hardware issues and they never seen it run outside the fender. If you’re going concours I guess it needs to be inside the fender.

You're not the only one I've heard that from. I guess you have to do what you have to do. I think I had this topic on TC and there were some pics of cars with the wires and hoses on the fenders like ours and they were factory pics.

My 02E Z28 from LOS had the wiring in between the inner and outer fenders.

My '68, 07c, NOR Z28 has the light harness and washer hose routed between the inner and outer fender.
