So I am looking at this car on eBay for a friend:

I have a pretty good idea about what the car is. One of the major things that I was looking at is the trim tag.
This is just a plain Jane car, so not really suspect to have a fake trim tag, but when I look at it does look really crisp. It is an early 69, so maybe they started off that way and got less "crisp" as many thousands got stamped?
Appreciate some opinions on the car and the trim tag. (if you scroll down on the auction there is about 50 pics)

Tags legit. Looks like a good honest car. Hell of a skid plate on the trans.

Were I serious about this car, I would request removal of the vinyl top. I have seen otherwise solid cars with virtually nothing left of the roof under the vinyl.
Imagine having to fix this.

The headliner was already removed; can the roof be adequately inspected (for serious rust) from the underside?? Was the 37 yrs of 'storage' indoors or outdoors?
Can't a better Camaro for the $ be found in California?

Although I agree with Bill on the VT cars and them needing to be inspected; this one appears to be in pretty good shape. I see one area (which I circled) that has some issues but nothing like the extreme.

One way or another, that 51 year old top will come off. Might as well be now.
Look at the photo of the roof, taken from the right rear. There is rust blistering under the vinyl at the lower corner of the window. Our '67 Z/28 project needed extensive metal work of the rear glass frame due to rust. The car had been parked indoors for 30 years.
If he refuses, move on. No shortage of '69 projects out there.

The top is not original. Probably problems exist....Joe

Maybe the pop looks crisp because it has not been spray painted a 100 times.

All good points. I am going to look a bit closer at it today.
Looking at the car mod wise, I see possibly aluminum intake (carb?), headers, floor shifter/ Turbo 400, that cross member skid plate?, and then whatever that bolt is for in the trunk. Also looks like the drivers side door may have been swapped, since it looks dark green. I talked to the selling dealer. needs outer wheel lips in the rear and likely lower rear quarters. also lower part of the fenders may need attention. He said he did not see any evidence of issues under the vinyl top, but as was pointed out I am going to look at those closer.
I have been on the lookout in my neck of the woods for a clean first gen project for a couple of guys. Price wise, and color wise this caught my eye (I am a rally green fan). I have found a few others. One, I couldn't close the deal with the gypsy who was selling a unrestored 67, and the others had issues upon close inspection. I am very picky, so it has to be the right car for the money.

Interesting to see 68 versions of deluxe seat belts, I wonder what the dates are.
