Can the parking light housings be replated? The wiring must be removed. Has anyone done this? If not how good are the repros?
-
Yes they can be replated. Its better to have the originals replated because they say Made in USA on them. I don't think the repros do.

The plastic keeper that holds the wire contacts has a tit that keeps it aligned in the housing so the bulb make contact. I broke that tit, but if you hold the wires where they need to be, the bulb will make contact.

Yes they can be replated, and you do not have to remove the wire leed. The plating is a cold process and it will not harm rubber, plastic etc.
Had mine done here in Akron at Beringer Plating in cad. Way better plating than zink IMO. I mask off the copper ferrel with a liquid rubber mask so they would not get plated.

We do these all the time for customers.

Should have known. What do you use for the rubber tube? Mine are gone (cut in half) when a previous owner did a wrecking yard job on it.

Just to keep this post up to date, we found some examples of 69 parking lights with silver cad as well as the gold.
