Title: Cleaning a CD player head
Post by: Fred Mertz on September 17, 2019, 03:13:37 AM
Have any of you had to clean a CD player head.  I have a 10 disc player in the trunk of my '69.  The sound has been distorted the last few days.  I think its because the player head needs to be cleaned.  Have any of you gotten involved in doing this with good results?  Thanks Fred.

I always used alcohol on a q tip...   You can also get CD Cleaner cds...?

First, try isopropyl alcohol and don't leave any fuzz from the q-tip. That even worked on 8 track players. 👍

Thanks for the replies.  So far I haven't been able to get the case open.  I've taken out every external on the casing.  It must also snap together in some way.  ???

The changer is a JVC CH-1500 12 disc.

Try a web search for a service manual. JVC has downloadable manuals online for many of their products.

There are cleaning discs you can use.  Some of them say for DVD and CD or for just one specific player.  Look on Amazon.

I gave up on getting box opened.  I found a new one on Ebay.  An open box sale.  The open box was missing the Owner's Manual but the unit was still in the original unopened packing.  $60.00 This model has been discontinued.  I'm happy I guess that's what counts. :)
