Title: Things that make you go hmmm..
Post by: Petes L48 on July 19, 2019, 08:50:09 PM
Apparently one 67 L35 snuck out of the plant a few months early and undetected!   :o

Funny how the original owner still has the car with the matching VIN, but doesn't want to be contacted:

This engine came out of a late October of 66 built 67 Camaro with a TH-400 auto trans. The block casting date is I 17 6 I believe this engine would also be correct for a November 66 build Camaro also. The engine info on the pad is T0925MY 7N115----(September 25th Th400 auto transmission). The previous owner of this engine still owns the matching Vin Camaro that this engine came out of and under no circumstances do they wish to sell the car period! They do not wish to be hunted down or contacted in any way by anyone. If you can not agree to this request in writing prior to purchase, please let me know, I will have the block decked removing the Vin # only from the pad. This is an exceptionally nice engine and very rare to be so complete.

Would be nice to have a better pic of the pad, but if that is the VIN, it’s obviously a restamp.

If the owner of the car isn't interested in the matching numbers motor, who's it worth $4500 to?

I see what looks like decking marks.
Also, look under the letter N....you can see the top of 7 and under the number 8 to the right you can see the top of an 8. It is as if the numbers were stamped twice but shifted.

How can you have a forged steel crank with a casting number?

How can you have a forged steel crank with a casting number?

It is most commonly referred to as a casting number, but on forged crankshafts - it is actually a "forging number".

But is the 325 crank forged or cast?

In 67 the 325HP non-cross drilled crank was forged. In 68 the 325 HP was cast.

I have bought items from this seller before and I was extremely satisfied with the items!
I felt that he was trustworthy.
