Were the steering boxes on the Camaros natural cast color or the blue-grey that Rick's sells and says they came with?

I believe the steering boxes were not painted when they left the factory, just natural metal. On the survivor cars I've seen all the steering boxes have been covered in surface rust with no traces of paint.

They were natural, also remember that 69s have an aluminum cover. We usually cast blast them, leaves a nice new original look. I tumble the covers on the 69 boxes when we rebuild them, and phosphate the bolts.

Thanks both of you. Jerry I need to check with you more before I do things. I just had the box done here locally and didn't know you did carbs til after I'd done mine already. You did my booster. Gave me goose bumps when I opened the box. As I said on another post, it helps to read everything through before I do it.
