I need to find a couple of door strikers for my late 69. Does anybody know the correct GM part number for the ones with torx? I've looked through the parts catalog from 1971 but it doesn't define. Thank you, Joe

GM # 20151275
Service replacement part. I believe this is slightly different than originals but I could be wrong.

Yes it is . My originals for a 67 have 2 washer/spacers and the service replacement would work without the second washer/spacer or as is.
I should mention that mine is also a convertible and I assume all Camaro's had 2 washer/spacers originally along with the plastic insulator.

They came from factory with Allen head part# 7660559. That was superceded to 20038395 Torx head! I think they latest # is 20151275 but not positive will know Monday when I get back to work Monday. See repro's of the original just don't know about the fit of them. Hope this helps

I believe the second washer/spacer has the letter W-1 stamped on it

I thought it looked like an allen head. I must have buggered it up taking it off that it almost looked like it could have been a Torx. Mike I see a W 1 2 on my second washer.
I remember it being a bear to get off. I should have soaked it in penetrating oil and maybe used an impact on it.

The late 69s had torx from the factory. That's what I need to figure out. Thank you, Joe

I just spoke to someone who has a car built about 20 days before mine. His has Allen. Maybe I'm wrong. Any other input would be greatly appreciated.

here is a pic of my original with an odd looking NOS #20151274 that has no striker sleeve.
It is Torx. The used one is an original from my 67.
I picked these up years back and didn't realize they were in fact different.

The height is the same as the double washer. I suppose it would function ok even without the sleeve. The sleeve on the original doesn't roll now and I don't know if it ever did.
After some research, I believe this is correct for 68-82 Corvettes judging by the used ones I see on Ebay and they will fit a Camaro too.

Anatomy of door striker.
First of all the first washer just slides off but the second...not so easily (it took lots of muscle and vise-grips.)
Secondly, the second washer butts up to a stop that is an integral part of the bolt.
Next, is the sleeve, (although it never turned any using the vise-grips there to unscrew the second washer.)
In the grooves on each end of the sleeve is an almost rubber like seals or something.
I can only wonder how on earth this striker bolt was made in the first place.
The nos striker bolt 210151274 is a much simpler piece but it definitely looks different and the 20151275 striker has a larger washer stop than original.

Torx was patented in 67. I highly doubt it saw any volume production for a number of years.
