Title: Rear Suspension Hanger - Good or Bad?
Post by: bhay47 on April 08, 2019, 06:27:04 AM
Hi everyone,

I am looking at buying a 1967 Camaro and one of the photos I was sent (attached) looks like the right side rear spring front hanger bracket has been cut or torn... Can someone give me some info on how bad this is and what would be required to fix?

Car will be imported into Australia so it has to be mechanically fit.

Cheers

Welcome to CRG. You'll find lots of great information here.

It looks like something was welded to it & then the weld broke.

Just for the record, that's the LH side.....Joe

Likely more cosmetic than structural. Common to find cars with alterations like this, either where the spring bucket has been welded to the underbody, or some kind of subframe connector was welded in (I've seen both in cars used on the drag strip). Shouldn't be a big deal if that is the case, remove the remnants of the welds and/or replace the spring eye buckets with good used or reproductions.
