The Tripoli Turquoise with a white nose stripe 1968 Camaro RS/SS 396 convertible used by Riverside International Raceway to pace their NASCAR events in January 1968 was also used as the pace car for the 1968 United States Road Racing Championship (USRRC) events held at Riverside International Raceway in Riverside, California on April 27th & 28th, 1968. The photos I have show the Camaro pacing the 250 km of Riverside which was the main event for the top of the line prototype sports cars. It occurred on April 28, 1968 and Mark Donohue won in his Chevrolet powered Penske McLaren M6A.

2 & 3) These pictures came from The Dave Friedman Collection at the Henry Ford but I can no longer find them on the internet. I saved them several years ago.

Several years ago I came across some old color film footage of this event but sadly it has been taken off the internet. When it was still available I took a few photos of the Camaro pacing the USRRC event.

More from the film footage.

Here is the souvenir program cover and race participants page. Notice the DANA Chevrolet ad on the bottom promoting the "home of the famous Dana 427 Camaro." I found them both at racingsportscars.com

Here is an advertisement for Center Chevrolet of San Bernardino, California featuring a 1968 Camaro RS/SS 350 that appeared in a local high school yearbook. Notice the placard on the windshield that states, "Chevy CAMARO OFFICIAL PACE CAR US ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS April 27-28 Riverside International Raceway."
