I have a Moser 12 bolt rear axle assy. The 4 bolt flange on these housing are thicker than a GM original housing were the caliper bracket would mount. The difference is that the caliper bracket will not the caliper to center over the rotor. I got the rear brakes to work by grinding almost all the pad material off the outside brake pad. This allowed the caliper to center over the rotor. Now I can't get any adjustment on the e-brake cable. The cable is as tight as it will go.
There is not enough material to modify the caliper bracket.
Suggestions? Help please !

If I may suggest, try contacting Right Stuff and see IF your parts are compatible with the Moser rear end. I am not familiar with the Moser rear flanges (are they like a Ford 9" type?), if so that might be the problem. I do know most aftermarket rear axle companies use the 'Big Bearing' Ford style flange for durability. If that is not the issue, something is definitely 'off'. Can you post some pictures?

My Moser rearend assy. is their copy of a GM 12 bolt. Beefier axle tubes, center section and outer axle flanges.

Ok, the Moser is built to OEM GM standards. That said, do you have your original 12 bolt, so you put them side by side to see what (if any) differences you are referring to, and why the discs/calipers are not fitting correctly? Possibly the mounting brackets are incorrect?

Moser has the rear kit for that application,,or whichever you need. I'd send the Right Stuff back. Shouldn't need to modify. There are several option available from Moser concerning these 12 bolts. See what you have,,,and call.

If it has the Hobby Stock flanges(ford style,retainers,non-c clip axels)probably where he is having issues.

FWIW, Wilwood makes a nice bolt on rear disc set up with a parking brake inside the rotors, along with forged two piston calipers, for around $650-$900 bucks. That said, I did purchase this for a Ford 9" rear. I'm pretty confident its also available for the popular 12 bolt. Baer is also an excellent source for quality rear disc set ups.

That sounds like the Ford type flanges/bearings as we mentioned.

I went over to Moser's web page, and I believe this is your housing end without the 'C' clip axles. IF it is they only offer it with the Ford bearing as discussed. Hope this helps your situation.

I just spoke to Right Stuff and to Moser. They are both no help. They don't understand what I'm telling them. I guess I'm on my own. Probably go back to rear drums.

Can you post a picture of the housing end, so we can see? There are some very good knowledgable guys on here, and Im sure we can solve this issue for you!

I found the problem with the rear disc brakes. The return spring was too long at each caliper. Once I shortened the springs so it was not binding and could be adjusted without binding. All is good !
