Title: Original DZ Stamp?
Post by: BULLITT65 on March 03, 2019, 05:36:46 AM
I have a friend who just got the is block from a family member who had it for years. It does not have the correct crank, but I wanted opinions if the stamp looks to be original?
I have not seen the block in person or seen a vin stamp (yet).

I resized it, blew it up enough to see the stamping a little better - looks legit. I don't see any negatives -

Regards,
Steve

Austin sent me a large .png file but still insufficient detail, which I reduced to under 200 KB for posting for him...
I don't see any issues wtih the stamping, but image detail insufficient to see broach marks!

I will get another pic from him with more detail and better source of light.

So I was over at his house yesterday, and found the stamp by the oil filter. After about an hour of wiping it down with lacquer thinner. The stamp appeared.

L91**4884
I am guessing it was suppose to be 19L504884, but the 1 and the L got switched in the gang stamp. the 5 and 0 you could not make out, but for the time frame of (0925) I thought a 5 and 0 made the most sense. The 9 1 and 4884 were the most visible.
I tried taking pictures but my camera phone could not capture it.
