Title: Yoke color
Post by: Flowjoe on February 19, 2019, 05:14:14 PM
Quick question on colors/finish:  Is a 12 bolt yoke left natural or painted 30-60% gloss like the rest of the housing?  I seem to recall reading once upon a time that it is left natural but I cannot find that reference anywhere.

Thanks!

Natural.  Search Chick Renn Camaro.  Perfect example of as accurate as they come to the way they left the production line besides a survivor.  He is also a member here.

Here is what a yoke should look like, natural cast iron with a natural steel collar:

Great photo!  I am wondering what year model and engine am I looking at ?   Are the floor pan cover plates unpainted?

Yes and that is correct.  As seen on some of the photos in the “Original Cars and Details” section of this forum.

Unpainted, yes. But they were put on the car prior to painting the body color so there may be overspray.

Are you SURE about that Mike??  The body is painted at FISHER PRIOR to entering the assembly plant where the underneath mechanicals were added!   Yes? or No??

I did read it here in CRG. I did a quick search and found these three threads related to the metal plugs.

Ahhhhh..  you were posting in response to the questioner asking about the floor board body plugs!  :)  NOT in response to the 'Yoke Color' thread title!  :)

OK...  I agree with you re the floor plugs... but was totally confused when I read your post and thought you were speaking of the YOKE...  :)

PS.  it's a good idea to 'quote' the relevant portion of the post being responded to, especially when it's 'off topic' as it was here..  :)
